Brinjal (Eggplant)

Eggplant popularly known as aubergine in many western areas is a low calorie vegetable. It has a high amount of nutritional content. Brinjal belongs to solanaceae family and it is a native to the Indian subcontinent and but now it is grown in many regions of tropics and some semitropical regions. There are several varieties of aubergines depending upon the size, color and shape. Mainly they are either egg shaped or elongated.  Fruits of bringal have a smooth and glossy skin. It has an off-white color pulp with numerous small and soft seeds arranged in a circular manner. It is harvested before reaching maturity.
